A Great Adventure

Several years back I embarked upon a great adventure–writing a fantasy novel! This quest took me down a long and winding path fraught with peril. I encountered snake-like sentences that slithered through paragraphs and grew to jaw-dropping lengths. I trudged through pace-killing bogs of exposition. And, I encountered countless dead ends that sent me frantically retracing my steps. It took time and many revisions, but I finally did it. I had a completed draft! Granted, it was an unwieldy beast of a manuscript. However, through that experience I amassed a great treasure-trove of invaluable lessons and discovered an exciting new passion.

I immediately took all my hard won lessons of how not to go about writing a novel and began again. Now I’m working on a nine-book fantasy series for mature young adult and adult readers. (Please visit my writing page to learn more about my pending debut novel! ). In addition, I’ve been working on several short stories. And, I have an ever-growing stack of story ideas that battle for my attention to be developed!

A Little About Me

A native Californian, I graduated Cum Laude from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. I’ve worn many hats in my life, including working as an executive assistant, a custom decorator, a production assistant for a children’s television show, and most recently as an aqua fitness instructor. I spend a great deal of my time writing, taking classes, attending writing events, and reading my favorite authors which include (among so many other amazing authors) Jim Butcher, Faith Hunter, Suzanne Collins, Dean Koontz, and of course J.R.R. Tolkien. When not reading or writing, I love spending time with friends and family, exploring California’s coastline, hiking amongst the redwoods, and discovering new movies to add to my ever-growing list of favorites.
